DWDM Optical Interconnect — High-Speed Data Center Connectivity
Designed and deployed high-capacity optical connectivity between geographically separated data centers using the Ekinops Dense Wavelength Division Multiplexing (DWDM) platform. This enabled resilient, high-throughput links capable of supporting critical business applications and disaster recovery synchronization.
DWDM is an advanced optical networking technology that multiplexes multiple wavelengths of light onto a single fiber, significantly increasing the bandwidth capacity of fiber links without requiring additional physical cabling. This is essential for modern large- scale data center interconnects, cloud replication, and disaster recovery synchronization.

Role & Scope
I worked with the #Ekinops DWDM platform to build optical links that connected two separate data centers with high-speed, high-capacity optical channels. This included hardware provisioning, optical channel planning, SFP configuration, and performance optimization to achieve seamless data transfer.
- Planning optical channel assignments and wavelength mapping
- Provisioning Ekinops DWDM transponders and line cards
- Configuring and testing SFP modules for appropriate link budgets
- Monitoring and optimizing optical power levels and Q-factor
- Ensuring high throughput and low loss across dark fiber links
